I’m lucky to have friends—and even family—who share my passion
for dining out. Honestly, we used to storm buffet restaurants like culinary
treasure hunters, searching for the ultimate jackpot of flavors. But, let’s
face it: as time marches on (and so do our waistlines), a la carte has become
our best buddy. These days, it’s either our stomachs throw up the white flag
before we can finish plate two, or our doctors have politely recommended we
embrace “the salad life.” Ah, the joys of aging! 😅
For the sake of this blog, I’ll zero in on a few top buffet
hotels in Metro Manila that I’ve had the pleasure of trying—ones that make you
want to throw caution (and calorie counts) to the wind. There’s an old saying
that goes, “The proof of the pudding is in the eating,” so I’m tossing out
recommendations and remarks, take my advice: treat yourself to these buffet
wonders at least once in your life. Your taste buds will thank you!
Let’s kick things off with one of my all-time favorite
hotels—not just in Metro Manila, but anywhere. It’s none other than the iconic
Edsa Shangri-La. And their buffet lounge? It’s aptly named ‘THE HEAT,’ where
culinary delights take center stage.
Food Variety and Quality:
I have to hand it to HEAT—the spread is impressive, from fresh
sushi and sashimi to mouthwatering meats, vibrant salads, and decadent
desserts. Now, quick disclaimer: I don’t eat anything raw, so I couldn’t really
tell you if the sushi and sashimi are as fresh as they claim. But hey, they look
fresh enough to start their own TikTok food channel, so that counts, right?
I even brought my Japanese bestie along for the ride. And
guess what? Being the sushi connoisseur that she is, she gave a polite nod of
approval but reminded me, with unmistakable pride, that nothing beats the sushi
and sashimi straight from the heart of Japan. Can’t argue with that—home-field
advantage always wins! Furthermore, their
buffet caters to diverse tastes, including Filipino, Chinese, Indian, and vegan
options.
Service:
The staff are attentive and
hospitable. They look out to customers’
needs and they make sure that plates are replaced if needed; but before doing so, they politely ask for
permission.
Ambiance:
The buffet area is spacious and
I consider it a great spot for special occasions or casual indulgence.
Value for Money:
I feel that the variety
and quality justify the cost. In fact, my
bestie and I are thinking of spending early Christmas in ‘The Heat.’
One down, seven to go! Buckle up, buffet explorers, as we
embark on this delicious escapade through seven more hotel buffet restaurants.
Prepare for a rollercoaster of flavors… Ready, set, chow down!
