Grace on a Hot Plate: The
Blessing of RCF Foods Incorporated’s Food Venture
On the rainy afternoon of July 24, as Metro Manila was hardly
recovering from a passing typhoon and bracing for another, the Fernandez
family—joined by relatives, friends and supporters—gathered for a celebration filled with
heart and hope. At around 3pm, beneath steady rain and overcast skies, we
marked the inauguration and blessing of a new food venture: PEPPER LUNCH at SM
Marikina, franchised through the family-run corporation, RCF Foods Inc.
My sister Cecile, her husband Mon Fernandez, and their
children poured their energy into making this dream a reality. Leading the
launch as General Manager was my nephew Nico Fernandez, whose composed
leadership lent a quiet strength to the day.
Each plate arrived hot and sizzling, catching everyone's
attention. The sound alone hinted at something delicious. On iron trays came
generous portions of beef, chicken, or salmon—pepper-seasoned and served with
rice, corn, and a pat of garlic butter slowly melting into every bite. Guests
stirred and cooked their own meals right at the table, savoring the aromas and
flavors as they came alive. It was more than food—it was a fun, shared
experience that made every bite feel special.
Despite the weather, the event unfolded with warmth and grace.
A priest led a heartfelt blessing, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a
joyful welcome to family and friends who came to support this milestone. Though
the rain lingered outside, joy simmered inside PEPPER LUNCH alongside each
dish.
Ironically, I was on a keto diet—so the rice with corn and the
pasta served with the chicken aglio were off-limits. But I enjoyed the kani
salad and a comforting bowl of soup, and I even had the chicken minus the
pasta. And you know what? I didn’t feel deprived at all. I left full, happy,
and genuinely satisfied.
This event wasn’t just a business launch—it was a celebration
of resilience, teamwork, and the promise that even in stormy seasons, something
meaningful can grow. It reminded us that when family stands together, not even
gray skies can dim the light of new beginnings.
